About BEF

About Us

The Branchburg Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports students attending Branchburg Public Schools and Somerville High School. We provide funding for programs and tools requested by our teachers, that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Our students benefit from enhanced learning experiences and opportunities to learn outside of the core classroom setting.

What We Support

The BEF encourages teachers and staff at the Branchburg Public Schools and Somerville High School to submit grant requests. Here's what you need to know:

We are excited to support...

  • Innovative, creative, and enhanced educational experiences and opportunities
  • Maximizing the number of students reached for the cost of a program
  • Something that complements the school curriculum

We are unable to fund...

  • Curriculum mandated requirements
  • School infrastructure items
  • Expendable items such as pencils, t-shirts, flags
  • Teacher stipends
  • Transportation
  • Field trips

Complete all pages of the Grant Application Form.

Return the completed Grant Application via email to hello@branchburgeducationfoundation.org.


The Branchburg Education Foundation will contact you within 30 days with any additional requirements and/or a decision regarding your application.


GRANT SUBMISSION DEADLINES: 60 days prior to the program. Please submit your grant as early as possible as funds may become limited by the end of the ​school year; at which time, BEF may take into account the equity/balance of grants funded across the schools and/or grades. No grants will be considered if ​received after June 1 of the current school year.

Grant Feedback: If your grant is funded by the BEF, within two weeks of its conclusion, please follow these instructions to submit feedback to the Branchburg ​Education Foundation.

Board Members

President: Dr. Steven Quintavalla

Dr. Quintavalla is an advocate for STEAM education, having developed sports-based science and math curricula in partnership with companies such as NBCLearn and Chevron. Dr. Quintavalla is most passionate about the Foundation’s value of Innovation and is excited to help bring new opportunities to the classroom. He is also a consummate writer of trustee biographies.

vice President: Dr. Joanna Miller

Dr. Miller is an associate professor of biology and the leader of the ​Branchburg Education Foundation. A past chair of the grants committee, ​Dr. Miller uses her science and educational backgrounds to work with ​teachers and staff to identify and promote programs for the benefit of ​our students. Dr. Miller drives the Foundation’s vision to maximize ​opportunities for Branchburg and Somerville High School students to ​succeed in higher education, career, and life.

Treasurer: Kim Nawrath

Ms. Nawrath is a financial professional and educator with significant experience in volunteering, leadership, and fundraising for Branchburg education. She brings professionalism and expertise to the treasurer position, embodying the Foundation’s value of Integrity.

Executive Secretary: lib​ette luce

Ms. Luce is a dedicated pharmaceutical regulatory professional ​navigating drug development and working closely with health ​authorities to ensure new medications are approved to treat unmet ​medical needs. She brings professionalism and communication skills ​to the executive secretary position, embodying the Foundation’s ​value of Innovation and Integrity.

Fundraising Chair: Anita Krishnamurti

Ms. Krishnamurti is an educator and a dedicated advocate for the mission ​of the Branchburg Education Foundation to support our students and ​schools. Ms. Krishnamurti brings energy, drive, and innovative thinking to ​the BEF’s fundraising activities, and manages the Foundation’s social ​media presence, connecting with our community.

Trustees

communications chair: marina pantina

Ms. Pantina is a finance professional with over 15 years of business and ​leadership experience, and is a mom of two young children in the ​Branchburg school system. She has a passion for learning, volunteering, ​and advancing childhood education. She spearheads her company’s NJ-​based Family for Literacy initiatives and is leveraging her experience to ​help advance the organization’s mission in support of our local schools.

grant chair: Sandr​a Carmody

Ms. Carmody is a local business owner and a long-serving trustee of the ​Branchburg Education Foundation. With several children in the ​Branchburg School District, she has been an energetic fundraiser, ​communicator, and advocate for educational opportunities for all ​Branchburg and Somerville High School students. Mrs. Carmody ​exemplifies Equity and Integrity on our Board.

trustee: Keerti Purohit

Ms. Purohit is an executive in the data and analytics field, and a past ​member of the Branchburg School District School Board. As the grants ​chairperson, Ms. Purohit interacts directly with the administration, ​teachers, and staff to bring novel educational experiences to life. With ​her background in supporting education in the Branchburg community, she ​elevates educational outcomes for our students.

Trustee: roseann kovelman

Ms. Kovelman is a learning and development/education professional. As ​the Executive Secretary of the Branchburg Education Foundation, she uses ​her professional background to ensure that the business needs of the ​Foundation are met, while at the same time acting as the communications ​chair and web-master. Mrs. Kovelman identifies with the Foundation values ​Equity and Integrity.
